My New Ante Up Column is Now Online

You can read my newest column for Ante Up Magazine right here.

It will probably be another week or so before it starts appearing in poker rooms around the country.

  1. Rob - It's high time you spend the $10 (or whatever) and turn this beast into RobVegasPoker.com

    Just saying

    1. You know, grouch, I considered doing that once but it was AFTER I paid for business cards with the current address on it. I can't just throw that money down the drain, can I?

    2. No, that makes total sense.
After your supply is done though you can get new ones with a better address on it.
Also, blog addy should still work and possibly redirect to the domain...
I haven't played with that but I'm sure it can work.

I still need to do my business cards - I've been quite lazy on that front.

    3. Well, I'm sure that would work, and it will take me forever to burn thru my cards, so perhaps I should go ahead and lock up that URL. Thanks for reminding me.

    4. Here's something you'll appreciate, grrouch-man. I just tested the theory that you're old address still works. So when I put in your old URL with the "blogspot" in it, I got a "Mega Site of Biblical Prophecy and Information." No kidding.

I was totally confused but...I did think that the thought your old URL had been taken over by a Biblical site was freakin' hysterical.

Just for kicks, I tried it two other browsers, and in those other browsers the rerouting of the address worked fine, I got to your blog just as I should have.

Shit, I thought....my Google Chrome has some kind of link hijacker again! Oh no! But would a Biblical site be hijacking URL's?

I finally figured out that when I first entered it, I transposed 2 letters in "blogspot." I was actually typing "grrouchie.blogpsot.com".

Why that should be a real URL, let alone a biblical site, is beyond me, but I did think it would amuse you.

  2. Too bad they won't pay you by the word.

    That was too easy.

    1. Thanks, Ken. I will bring that issue to the table during our next contract negotiations.

    1. Thanks for pointing that out, but DAMN, that is disturbing. Can you please tell me what RSS reader you use so I can test posts against that myself? Google Reader is picking all the posts up fine. Thanks.

  4. You do realize that if I win a pot, net profit, etc... from you now, I beat the writer for a poker magazine??? ;)

    1. True, I guess it would as good a feather in your cap as beating Phil Ivey, right? :)

Seriously, it wouldn't be that big a deal. It's not like I write STRATEGY articles (yet). But I guess I would be flattered if people could actually brag about beating me!

  5. Looks like I should read the article. I have always been an xtremely fast reader, so I should allow how many hours to read it?

Kudos to Ken P for getting in with the slam before I did.

    1. OK, wise guy, here's a couple of things you should know. The article I sent was exactly in the word length parameters I was given. Furthermore, believe it or not, the article is actually LONGER as printed than when I submitted it. There are three paragraphs in that column I did not write. I don't think they added those paragraphs because the need to fill space, it was more a matter of them having 2 bits of pertinent, timely info that I didn't know about when I wrote my column. But the column as submitted was exactly the size they asked for.

I'll keep an eye out for it.

  7. Hey Sparky, what is that word VJ like to use on us? Seems to apply here better. Start with a W doesn't it? (Rob would have never figured it out otherwise.)

    1. I believe the VJ word is "WHORE" although "weenie" could also be used here ...

    2. "Weenie"? Is that VJ's pet name for you?
